"Poor Arsène Lapie! He’s been caught by the teacher after drawing all over the classroom! Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, the quirky bird gave in to his dreams of adventure and escape, expressing his desires and perhaps hoping to brighten the room in the process."
This artwork highlights the challenging working conditions faced by teachers in overcrowded classrooms, often dealing with disenchanted students who can test even the most dedicated educators.
"Pénibilité" is a series of three works created by Arsène Lapie in 2024, titled "Une tâche sans fin", "Éducation(s)", and "S.O.S.". The series is set to be showcased by Signature Fine Art at the 2024 edition of the Red Dot Art Fair, under the theme "Everyday Heroes".
The event celebrates heroes from various walks of life, including healthcare workers, teachers, firefighters, volunteers, environmental activists, and community leaders. Through his interpretation, Arsène highlights the arduous and challenging nature of these everyday heroes' lives. Acting as a disruptive element, he emphasizes the struggles his actions can provoke, shedding light on individuals who, though seemingly secondary at first glance, are the unsung heroes tirelessly striving to improve society, one effort at a time.
